First Post: Introduction to my Intentions

Let me start off by saying this blog will be souly for music. I will include in here cd reviews, tour dates, interviews, local show dates/details, and anything else about music worth posting.
Now, my name is Brenden I will be basing this blog until further notice from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (for you outside the area) but more particularly from the southern Denton County Area. I don't have much prepared but here are a few things:

Buy these Records NOW

  • The White Stripes - Icky Thump
Definitly one of the louder records from Meg and Jack. At the same time one of their weirdest (trumpets and bagpipes?) but then again this is a band that made a Dolly Parton song badass. The title track is definitly the best single on the radio from them since their Blood cells days ("fell in love with a girl"). Just when I thought Jack reached his pinnacle of rock creativity with the Raconteurs there is with a new rock/blues album to force me change my shorts once again.
Check Out: "Rag and Bone" "Little Cream Soda" "You dont know what love is" "Conquest"
  • Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
I think this band of indie heroes have finally decided on their sound: drums that make you move with melodic guitars and even horns (underdog). Their previous albums have not really strayed much from their feel good beatsy indie pop rock and this one is no exception. Basically, old fans wont be disappointed and this album is good one to jump on board with them to(if that makes sense?).
  • Circa Survive - On Letting Go
Missed them at Warped Tour. This new record is a sore reminder that I've still yet to see them live. Definitly a satisfying record with Green's signature sweet voice and wailing guitars with ambiatic drums. Its wonderful to hear these talented guys holding to their unique and thoroughly enjoyable sound that puts pride back into the genre.
  • Explosions In the Sky - All of the Sudden I Miss Everyone
Their music still brings hot Texas summer nights to mind. But this time with New Orleans inspired artwork? As usual this "soundtrack to daydreaming" band gives another dose of building intensity/ambiance rock. Try listening to it during a sunset or background noise while reading or napping. Brings on some wild stuff in your head.
  • Death from Above 1979 - You're a Woman I'm a Machine
Okay its not recent but more people need to give this band a chance. Bass and drums only? Thats all you need for intense, sexy Dance music! Who said canadians cant dance anyways?
Check out: "Little Girl" "blood on our hands"
